The shape of the entrance aperture (for example, a rectangular slit) will be preserved at the exit with minimal distortion. In the table below, if a blaze wavelength is indicated, the grating has been optimized for the indicated wavelength and has been blazed by means of ion etching. See the optical diagram for the definitions of lengths LA and LB, and included angle D.
