Spark
Ablation ICP-AES
An
application note is available from Jobin Yvon outlining the analysis
of a steel sample using Spark Ablation ICP-AES using the ULTIMA
sequential ICP.
Compared
to spark emission spectroscopy, calibration curves are quite linear
for major and minor sample components and detection limits at the
µg/g level or lower are better than spark.
The
coupling of the Jobin Yvon spark source and solid state RF generator
of the ICP ensures that the spark and ICP source are very stable
allowing operation without the need for internal standardisation.
The
spark source was also used to analyse nickel super alloys and can
operate with the IMAGE data acquisition system of the ULTIMA allowing
a full spectrum acquisition within 2 minutes. Powerful Windows®
software allows for element
identification and semi-quantitative / quantitative analysis.
