NEW VUV BEAMLINE GRATING EFFICIENCY OPTIMISATION SOFTWARE FROM JOBIN YVON   Jobin Yvon has developed new software for calculating the efficiency of VUV beamline gratings. The software, based on the electromagnetic theory that describes the diffraction phenomena, can calculate not only the efficiency but also the harmonic contaminations. Additional features include the ability to ray trace any VUV system starting from the source (undulator, wiggler, bending magnet, etc) up to the experimental chamber. Most instrument or beamline performance parameters can therefore be measured taking into account slope errors and roughness of the optical surfaces.
