NASA
Excellence Award presented to Jobin Yvon

Monday
December 11th , 2000 (LONGJUMEAU France), Jobin Yvon received the
NASA Award for its Commitment to Excellence in Technology Achievement.
The
NASA Award is granted to Jobin-Yvon:"in recognition of your
holographic diffraction gratings for the Cosmic Origin Spectrograph
(COS) instrument that will enable a new generation of scientific
exploration for the Hubble Space Telescope, the astronomers of the
world, and every person who looks to the sky in wonder" said
Professor James Green, Principal Investigator on COS and Director of
CUs Center for Astrophysics and Space Astronomy.
The
holographic gratings, (up to 5870 grooves per millimeter) present
outstanding performances in efficiency and spectral purity: "the
COS instrument will be 20 times more sensitive than anything flying
today", "the gratings were delivered above the
specifications, on time and on cost" said Prof. Green.
Jobin-Yvon
company has produced challenging diffraction gratings for a number
of NASA space born astronomical projects: Hubble Space Telescope
(HST), Goddard High Resolution Spectrograph (GHRS), the Space
Telescope Spectrograph (STIS), the Lyman Fuse Spectrograph (FUSE) and others.
"Jobin-Yvon
is very honored to receive this prestigious Award and is pleased to
contribute to the success of technically demanding NASA projects"
said Michel Mariton Jobin Yvon General Manager.
Jobin
Yvon, the world leader in the design and manufacture of holographic
diffraction gratings has doubled during this year its manufacturing
capabilities for production of advanced holographic gratings.
Jobin
Yvon develops, manufactures and sells gratings and instruments in
different scientific research fields such as space, synchrotrons,
high energy lasers as well as industrial fields such as semiconductor
process monitoring, colorimetry and analytical spectroscopy for
biotechnology, pharmaceutical industry, chemical analysis...etc.
