High Throughput Screening
(HTS), used in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries,
enables rapid, systematic screening of molecules engineered for drug
design and high throughput analysis of large sample arrays.
The sample reaction
process is often undertaken in multiwell plates, and so any
analytical technique must be able to cope with such forms of sample
presentation. It is now possible to analyse a Well plate with the new
Raman Multiwell Analyser from JY. In this system, the benefits of the
modern and compact analytical Raman spectrometer are combined with
the HTS procedures in a fully automated Raman screening system. The
specialised computer control modules for this system can also be used
for HTS analysis of Microspot Arrays.
Raman spectroscopy is a
non-contact, non-destructive technique. It provides information on
physical and chemical properties and enables quantitative
characterisation to be conducted simultaneously. Without any need for
sample preparation, it is easy to analyse solids and liquids,
including reacting aqueous systems. Implementation of a new optical
design enables a single well to be analysed in only seconds.
